The London-based carrier announced the new second daily flight between Heathrow and Mumbai from October 27. Virgin Atlantic will be using Airbus A350-1000 aircraft offering Upper Class, Premium and Economy Delight, Classic and Light as well as the airline’s signature Upper Class social space.
The new service will become the airline's fifth daily service to India from Heathrow, along with its two daily flights to Delhi and the recently launched route to Bengaluru. It will offer connectivity via Heathrow from destinations in North America including Seattle, San Francisco, and New York-JFK with Virgin Atlantic or its transatlantic joint venture partner Delta Airlines.
“There is a huge opportunity for us in India, it has a dynamic, fast-growing economy and we’re anticipating a huge growth in demand for international travel from the region. We know both our customers and people love traveling to India and we have a rich history in the destination,” said Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer, Virgin Atlantic.
In addition to the three routes to India from Heathrow, customers can connect to 36 destinations in India through its partner carrier IndiGo.
